Roman Catapult (Assignment 1)

We were requested by Mr Black to construct a Roman Catapult with our four group members. Given a specific period of time, we had to build the catapult with suitable and proper materials.

This is the group’s process in building the catapult. We managed to construct the base without letting it fall apart, using wood and nails to piece them together. At some point, the wood of the base began to withdraw and loosen its hold so we thought of sealing them with duck tape. It worked. We used a wooden sort of rod as a ‘stopper’ and a plastic bottle, cut in half, as the place where the tennis ball will be placed. The usage of the motor tyre was for stretching and releasing the tennis ball into a block of boxes.

Overall, the catapult was a success and it definitely took time and patience for us to reassemble it, thinking of solutions when needed as well. It turned out quite entertaining and fun, to be honest. The image above is our final work.
